Default Low $ value against pound, Euro, Yen....effect on detector prices?

Yesterday, for the heck of it I went to some Metal detector dealer's sites in the UK to see how prices compare there for the Fisher F2 (my new machine) verses here in the US. The F2 from TC Tony that I just bought cost 199$ with free shipping and added 4" coil/ lower arm. On Dealer sites in the UK the Fisher F2 was going for 149 pounds. At about 2.05$ to a pound they are paying over 30% more without the extra coil, arm or free shipping. I don't know if the dealer mark up in the UK is the same as here or what import tax detectors are subject to but it seems to me that there might be added incentive with the dollar tanking the way it has for more units to reach the hands of overseas buyers with relatively strong currencies. I understand that Kellyco is out of some Fisher detectors now at what seems to be a peak part of the season........hmmmm?

Yea there killing me..lol..I was told Fisher was shipping the F2 and the F75 over seas in Bulk..Its good to see a US product sell to the euro But its leaving the US dealers hi and dry.. I have read the warranty in the UK isn't as good..Fisher is moving into a new building and doing the restructure thing and still seems to be building a few new machines the F2-F5-F70-F75-CZ21...They seem to have great service and stand behind there units..Dave johnson has been a good thing..

it would cost me £620 to purchase a whites dfx ( e series )
With rechargeable battery pack, charger, alkaline battery holder, coil cover,
at todays exchange rate a british pound is worth 2 dollars so you in the usa would have to be paying $1240 for the dfx. I would like to know what you do pay.

Greetings Smudger, It seems to me like there is about a 1000$ street price with extras offered for the DFX by US dealers. best, Stephen

Good research FS. I waiting to see what happens as with the Economy and the Prices climbing everyday if there will be an increase in detector sales especially the lower end ones like the F2 And Ace Series. Figure more folks just may get into the hobby to try to supplement their incomes as I was talking to a friend and he was telling me That alot of dealers are selling The heck out of Gold Prospecting equipment to the point that there is a 2 or 3 month backorder on some things. Be interesting to see.

It affects the price of Gold too! A weak dollar drives up the price of gold but you get paid in weaker dollars so the gain is offset somewhat. Always good to have some gold coins on hand at least it has intrinsic value, unlike paper money.

Cheers,

BDA
