I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to wire in some led backlighting to your present machine, they use very little power,only require about 2-3 volts,very little amperage draw,I've seen 3-aaa flashlights that burn 12-16 led's and they last for hours.For backlighting, I think one or two led's would suffice.

Sounds right Hank, it would be pretty cheap, easy with low on power consumption. Just wondering why more machines in a competitive market would not offer them as I think the feature could tip the scales between this brand or the other in some cases. thanks and good luck, Stephen

I have a Fisher pro 70 that has a blacklight on it ,doesnt take much power to operate,no glare.havent noticed the bugs flocking around it either.I have used a mine light and the skeeters loved it in the woods but on the beach dont think the bugs got a chance in the wind ...creek
