Default Why don't more MTs have back lighting?

Greetings, it seems hard for me to find new MTs that offer LCD screens with back lighting. Why is this? battery drain issues? Cost? lack of demand? Some night time beach searching sounds fun to me. thanks and good luck. Stephen

Not sure why they do not? You could always get one of those hands free head lamps? I would think that would work real well. Then you could also see to dig, Beale.

These work great, Beale...I've used one for various things for years...the LED lamps throw out a lot of light!

My XLT has back lighting..I really don't use it because it drains the battery they say.....Last time "E" and I went to the beach at 4 AM I used a head lamp...I could see where I was walking and then look toward my screen and see it really well..Those lights work really good...I would suggest getting one for any type of hunting in the dark...It's a good deal.....Buster...

We both had them at the beach..It was about 48 degrees and there were no bugs..I would say no that they might not.I would also take some bug spray along for the bugs..The light also has a infra red light you can switch it to....I got my light at K mart.."E" got hers at Wally world..It's a good investment for sure... I think about 15 bucks if I remember correctly...Buster...

Stephen..my F75 has the all the time LCD screen lit up its just perfect no glare and it want Blind you.. and the Batteries , 4 AA last 40 hours easy..so Fisher has figured something out for sure..Not sure why more machines dont have this feature..
As for the headlamps attracting bugs I would say no..I work 80% at night all over the state of NC..from the beaches to the mountains and I might can see them But the lens dont get hott enough to where they bother me..By the Way I Hunt Alot at night with a headlamp and its real nice to see the VDI ..I use the Miners light to see the ground..Caution.. while digging on the Beaches the minerals looks like small flakes of GOLD!!!!

Thanks for the good info on light options Buster and James. On the beaches of Long Beach Island, NJ where I plan to hunt, there are nasty black flies (look more like birds). If those suckers where attracted to the lights suggested I would have to get a bee keepers suite too! Can you see me at 4am on the beach looking for stuff in a bee keeper suit?
