Default whites sensitivity

will be getting a prizm 2 within the month and read on the site about turning the sensitivity way down. help my ignorance but what does sensitivity do? never had it on my old whites back in 1978. i know what discrimination does. thanks for the help.

sensitivity is sort of how deep your detector goes, but it should be changed with different mineralization, power lines nearby, or even radio towers, etc

I think it should be looked at another way.....keep your sensitivity as high as you can as long as the detector remains stable and you don't get alot of falsing. Good luck with the Prizm!

Think of Sensitivity as a gas pedal on a car.Sometimes you can give it gas and sometimes you have to backoff.Most of the Whites detectors i've used are very docile at factory presets and Prizm's seem to fall in that category.

As Grasshopper mentioned there are many inherent disruptions to the norm and adjustments must be made but the key as Minelabman mentioned is knowing your just below instability and not too docile. HH Bill
