Hi DIGGINGDOG and welcome to TQ. I would do what Dugday said about talking to one of the sponsors. I know the ACE 250 costs about $200 and it's highly recommended by many on here, not sure of the price on the ACE 150 but our sponsors will steer you in the right direction.

Welcome Diggingdog...I would say that the Ace 150 would be a good buy at that price, But as Alan said Check with our sponsors and find out..You might be able to get a new one for that price....Buster...

The 150 is one of the finist machines on the market in my opinion for the price of around $150 new.

Not to add to your confusion (been there) but my wife got her Fisher F2 with an additional 4" coil for around $200 from a sponsor. Good luck in your decision, now go find that treasure!

DigginDog, The 150 a good detector. It'll have allot of power for the buck, but for less than $100? not sure you'll be able to pull that off, unless you've found a used one. But used add another few bucks and check out the 250, same basic detector just a few more bells and buttons. As far as bang for the buck goes a good detector is the 250, beginner, novice or other wise....there's a reason they're used in competition allot.

Good luck, let us know your choice and how you like it...Oh yea welcome to TQ.
Dave

Default great machine

I have the Ace 150 and love it ........... you found it for under 100 bucks ? I would buy it because it's a great buy for the quality !!

I have used mine for countless hours and love what this little machine can do. It does not have the pinpoint like the 250 but once you get the pinpoint figured out its very simple to run and very light to swing for hours on end !
I started out with this machine this spring and I am very sure its the right one to start out on ........... I was having trouble pinpointing but I did some reading on here got some pointers to help me with that ........ bought a good shovel and am very happy with the 150.
highly recomend it that you buy it......... you will not be disatisfied !!

I went metal detecting yesterday for about 4 hours and all I look for is coins in this area and I found over 4 bucks in coins and it did very well for me and does not eat batteries either !!

yesterdays coins :11 quarters,7 dimes and 18 pennies
