You'll be OK in the dry sand but the wet salt sand is gonna cause you a lot of problems. I would have suggested you get the Tesoro Silver Umax. A great little beach hunter under 250.00 and can work the wet salt sand.

I recently purchased a Fisher F2 and love it. Sensitive and has a quick response and I love the fact it came with a 4" coil. I wish I has some experience with the 250, hear it is also an excellent detector. My F2 was going to be a backup but because I keep it in my car it gets quite a bit of use........and made some good finds with it. Main thing is to learn your detector!
