Default I finally got to try the detector!!

The snow has finally melted. The chosen ground finally dried out and thawed to some degree. And I had a few hours of spare time. Grabbed the detector and hit a local campground to see if I could come up with anything. I had a great time. There were hundreds of targets, easily located. After digging the first 20 or so and finding bottle caps, pop tops, melted aluminum cans, bases of shotgun shells, wire, and the like, I started to pass on the targets that registered as a pop top on the dash board of the detector. That is hard to do though, since I don't want to trust the machine to tell me what the target is. But I learned a tremendous amount in the couple of hours I was out. The display tells me the target is a gold ring, I dig it to find an aluminum grommet from the edge of an old plastic tarp. I didn't find any real valuable items but consider the experience valuable. The only thing I found that meant anything was a 1967 penny and a desire to get back out there as soon as I can. No people there, no noise but the sound of the detector and the ducks flying overhead. It was a great time!!

Good on ya for getting out! The swinging of the coil is the fun part. The finds are the bonus! As you learn your machine you will get better at finding the good stuff. Keep it up it will happen, Beale.
