Default First Hunt Today

I got my Ace 250 yesterday, went out and didn't find anything , watched the video. Today, I went hunting for around 2 1/2 hours in my yard and a park near my home. I had no idea my yard was soo trashy. Today I found several coke cans, a few soup tin cans and a couple pull tabs. I may go out tomorrow to the park, and will definitely go to the beach on the weekend. I made a sand sifter out of an old bucket. Hopefully it works. I turned my sensitivity down two notches as I think the park people would be mad if I dug 8+ holes in the grass.

How do you guys find the clad in the holes? I dug a couple holes and nothing were in them . I read somewhere about the pinpointing of the ace 250 not being in the exact center. So where is it?

Thanks
Legal

Glad you got out. I also dug a few holes that apparently had nothing in them to find. Then yesterday I had a target and dug feverishly. It showed as iron on the dashboard of my detector but I have been digging everything as I go, mostly for the experience. I saw an old fence staple in the hole. I reached in to take it out and it crumbled into little tiny pieces when I touched it. It made me wonder about some of the things in the other "empty" holes I had dug. Maybe they just disintegrated before I got a chance to see them.

My 250 tends to pinpoint at the top of the inner loop on the coil. A good way to determine your "center" is to have someone hold the pinpoint button while you move a coin or ring around the coil to find the sweet spot. My experience has been that if my detector indicates a target, there's something down there. I've found some very very small scraps of metal that could be easily missed while digging; things like tiny fishing sinkers. A great time saver, and worth the money, is a hand-held probe. They will help you find the object and save you a great deal of time searching. Above all...practice, practice, practice. It takes many hours of hunting to really get to know your detector. Good luck!

Glad you got out....I don't have the Ace but as ith all machines just keep practising and read and reread your manual eventually it will all fall into place.
Good Luck
