Not familiar with Texas Hill country but my ground is getting very hard to dig so i resorted to hunting the large wood chipped playgrounds and parks for mostly a chance at jewlery finds and of course the surface clad. Can't wait for rain and i love woods hunting so late fall ,winter, and early spring are my favorite time to hunt.Good Luck . HH Bill

I have the hard dirt here in Germany too....I went through 3 diggers in a week so I bought one of George Lesche's shovels. It will cut through tough dirt and its lightwieght too. Just look on Ebay for his line of tools. I hope this helps.
