Default Just started today....

Hello, I'm new to this and just started today. I have a Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX...nothing fancy...$98.00 Walmart special :o) I wanted one for awhile, I thought it would be something neat to do with my 3 tykes. We live on 2 acres in the middle of nowhere, it's an old town and I guess metal detecting is big here. I'm always finding stuff when I'm working on my land, tools, clay pots, etc. so I figured maybe I would find something nice...coins, etc.

So far me and my 8 y/o have found cans, sheet metal, and that's about it. He's ready to give up but I wont let him, soon our land will be filled with holes!

Amy

Ok, we spent the day digging. We found a metal pendant, it's not old it's from some music school. We found nails, a saw blade, some latch type things, some long nails maybe 10" long or longer, a buckle, and some odds and ends tool type things, hinge type things and one thing we found to me looks like a shackle, I'm going to try to clean it up and see.

My 3 year old daughter gets so excited when it beeps and as soon as I dig a hole she's right in there searching. She moves the worms and bugs....she's not afraid of a thing. She keeps saying "lets go treasure hunting" we may go to a park tomorrow.

You can have fun with a $98 set, or be serious with a $1,100 set. I'd rather have fun. Maybe to keep the kids interested, slip out at night and using a sharp object, bury a couple to coins around the yard, about 3" down. Steer them over the spots later, and you'll have them hooked. Dimes and a couple of quarters should do it.
