Default Still digging....

I've been digging for about a week now. I'm getting the hang of it and it's getting more and more exciting. I'm now finding lots of coins...still none that are old but today I went to the school and dug by a huge old tree and in one area found 8 nickles, 2 quarters, 6 pennies and 1 dime. All of them are 1975-1979, funny thing I was just searching there a few days ago and came up with nothing. The closet I've came to jewlrey is a half of pair of glasses.

We just had a new gravel driveway put in to our pole barn so as soon as they dug I went out searching and came up empty handed Oh well, it should rain here any day so I will go out after.

Glad to hear you are still at it! It is always amazing to me how I can search an area one day and find nothing and come back the next and pull a pile of coins out.

Sounds like you are really getting the hang of it. In one hunt you single handedly found more nickels than I have found in YEARS of detecting.

Default Hey Mom !

you could try some older spots,Any friends with the last name rockefeller,or hearst ? lol If so try there yards as usualy the richer folks had more of the good stuff to lose.I also found that the local library can hook you up with good sites like old military training grounds, campsites, swimming holes, also cheak lost and found in old newspapers.Good luck !

Your doing great Amy! It is a good sign when nickels are dug.

To find the older coins you must go to older areas. Can't wait till you dig your first oldie

I'm dying to go to older areas. I've been driving through my area trying to find someone outside to where I can ask them if I can dig. I live on 2 acres and there is 12 vacant across the street (for sale) and next to that another 5 that last year was cleared out some to get ready to build. There is some vacant houses (1800's) some very old churches I would love to hit but I guess right now I'm to chicken to ask! The school has been there forever and the trees I dug around were HUGE weeping willows so I tried to picture them being there forever ago and people having picnics there, kids playing, etc.

The park I've been going to has a sled hill that has been around and being used as a sled hill from the late 1800's. I want to hit that but it's closed and the sign says "Think Safety" with the tykes with me I cant very well choose to ignore the sign I will do it soon though!!!

This is becoming more of my hobby now. The kids love it but as soon as they see a playground their gone. At the school I had about 4 kids swarming me as well as their parents. One mom said she couldnt belive how into it her kid was.
