Default Awaiting my 1st Detector

A White 5 1 D has been ordered w/ all accessories and I am foaming at the mouth for it to arrive. It's nice to be 52 and feel like a kid again; Is it here yet? The 1st find will be reported at the end of the day I receive my dectector; Is it here yet? Good luck to all "newbies" like myself in your quest. Thank you. By the way, Is it here yet???

I'm awaiting a good rain! Trying to decide whether to go attempt the digging in the woods while bow deer season only is open this weekend or go back crappie fishing......only morning will tell! I'm foaming at the mouth and been climbing the walls for months now!!

Good Luck Diggin', HH, Roger

Have a great time with it.. I took a friend of mine out detecting for his first time, both of us are in our 50s, sharing the hobby. We were hard at it for about an hour, not finding anything special but sharing the day and just having a good time.. We were both on our knees working on a hole when he looks up at me and says "I havn't felt like this since I was 12." Just two boys again playin in the dirt.... Bob

Default Thanks for your comments

I appreciate all of your responses. It will be great to exchange stories of finds. It seems to me that detecting is like fishing; you go out for the sport & hope for the best. If nothing is caught or discovered some days, it's never a waste. Being outside doing what one loves & enjoying nature is never a waste. Anything above that is pure gravy.

I read about a place here in Maine that many of the so-called "well-to-do & affluent" visited to go to the casino. This dates back to the late 1800's/early 1900's; a time when Dapper Dan was the boxing champ. Needless to say, this is the place my *divining rod" detector will first point its nose. The only remnants of this beautiful place are part of the entry wall and a stone stairway that led to the gazebo. Many floods have ravaged the area and it has a clay base. Would I be beating a dead horse trying to work this area? I guess the only way to know that is to try.

On a personal note:

To Pappy - It ain't here yet and UPS does not do weekends, if I drank, I'd cry in my beer.

To boobieinPa - It's interesting what triggers memories; just glad these were good ones for you.

To Gregory - Thanks and I'll see you soon in the Whites forum.

To Raw-War-Digger - Go for the crappies - it's the only time a crappy day can be a great day.

To TwoDogsBob - That was a great story. Funny thing, when we are kids we want to be teenagers, as teenagers we want to be adults, as adults we forget what it was to be like a kid and enjoy the simple things in life; playing in the dirt with a friend sounds like great fun. Dig on.

Hey Rick,

IS IT THERE YET ?

I know what you mean about the excitement and if you love the hobby it's always exciting because there's always another adventure with another page to turn , i'm 53 and when i put the headphones on and start hunting the rest of the world stops for a while and it's therapeutic for me. I'm a BIG fan of the Classic series and they are very stable, easy to use , and fairly light. If you have any questions feel free to ask and someone here will help. Good Luck .HH Bill
