Default Detecting Clothes, Boots...

Hi there folks,

Since I live in GA I haven't bought a winter coat in years. Just own medium weight jackets. Since I'll be detecting soon I will probably need something warmer.
Can you guys give me any tips on a good brand(s). I've heard of Down,Gortex, and Thinsulate as fillers but not sure which is best.
Also, I think I may buy some Snake Boots that protect from bites. There are several poisonous kinds around here. Anyone own a good type you would recommend?

Thanks Much!

Kenny

I don't know about boots as that is all in personal style and taste. But...I would not get a down jacket as moisture can be a problem, personal experience. I prefer Gortex as it is better at water shedding. I usually wear a thinsulate undergarment to insulate then put on a Gortex jacket or wind breaker. Wool socks are key!!! This all just my opinion though. Go with what is comfortable to you! Hope this helps,
Travis

Staying warm is layer's. I wouldn't worry too much about the snake's, after a couple of frost's they become sluggish. I personally won't go into the wood's without snake-boot's. HH
