hey guys nice web site.
I have just got back into detecting and I have a few questions. I have a white 6000 Di Pro sl. It has a meter that lets you know what it is that you have just found ( with in reason I know ) . when I find a penny close to the surface 2" or so it reads penny just like it is made to, and it read penny for my 1st wheatback at around 5'' ( it even had the right depth ) will this hold true for coins buried deeper in the ground, that it will still read out approx what it is? and does the tone get weaker the deeper the coin is? The penny i found at 5'' was still pretty strong but the tone was shorter that had it been on top of the ground. If any one is familer with this unit ( I'm sure most everyone is ) I'm using this machine with everything set on the presets, Mode GEB DISC, regect hot rocks, tuner at preset, DISC set at 5 between foil and nickle. Anyway I'm new to this and you really dont know if your missing anything down deep or not and I want to make sure I at least doing somethings right. By the way anybody over here that plays in the dirt. Lewiston Id. BN |

Hi B Neely,
Yes this is a nice website and welcome, I'm sure you know the presets are just the starting point for real performance.I have an XLT and just bought a 6000 di pro sl and should arrive early next week.Target signal strength and correct id will vary due to soil conditions , coil size and settings and naturally get weaker as depth increases and at some point may only get a spit audio sound on deep targets and could id as iron at extreme detection depth. The XLT has a Modulation mode that allows week signals to be electronically enhanced, not sure on the 6000 yet.The Di Pro is a 4 filter detector and needs to be swept rather briskly to attain full depth potential and is critical to find the sweet sweep speed. Will know more in about a week or so. Good luck with the 6000. HH Bill HH Bill |
