Default New Hobby

Hello All, I’d like to introduce myself to the forum. My name is George and I’m going to start metal detecting as a hobby. Somehow I found this forum from a google search and liked what I was reading. I’ve been lurking for a little while and have since then orderd the ACE 250 from Tony. I should be receiving my unit sometime this week. It is my understanding that the ACE 250 is a wonderful unit to begin with. I have never held a unit in my hand and looking forward to the challenge.

I live in Alabama and retired from the Army @ Ft. Benning Ga. Most of my time in the military was with the 82nd out of North Caralina. I’ve got a lot of expeience digging holes, but just foxholes..LOL I’m excitted to try a different kind of hunting and look forward to learn from the experience this forum has to offer.

Default Welcome!

Welcome to the ranks... this site is great and filled with great folk! Looking forward to hearing about all those great finds! I've been detecting for about a month now and loving it. To date, I've only collected three silver dimes, 3 wheat pennies, 3 silver rings, about $15 in clad, and a whole lot of crap, but I'm still having fun! Good luck!

Default Welcome George

Hello and welcome George. I have been at this for about 3 months now. My first and only detector is an ACE 250. I would recommend it to any newbie. It is easy to learn and finds a lot of stuff. After you get to know the machine you will be finding all kinds of things. My best finds so far are 1914 dime, 1932 half dollar, 1941 wheat penny, a diamond ring, and two silver rings. I have found a bunch of clad coins. The ACE is a coin finding machine. I hope you have as much fun at this as I am.

Hi George and nice to meet you. I know a fellow at work and I think he was in the 82nd in Iraq. But it's good to have you. This is a great bunch and they all will be glad to help out with your questions George. Tony did you well and that Ace 250 is quite a machine so go get'em George. God Bless ya.

Thank you

Free2Dtect, I was with the 3/325th (Recon) 2nd Brigade. I think I clocked in over 150 jumps with most being mass tack combat night. I use to love the Hollywood blasts with the T-10B

Default welcome

Wont hold being in the Army against any of ya'll. Thanks for serving, I just retired from the USMC Dec 31 05' myself. These are a great bunch of people here, and very knowledgable. I'm back in Ohio now, but the wife and me are thinking about moving back down south to NC or GA again, hated NC the whole 6 years we were there, now were missing it (I'm just missing the CW relic hunting myself). Hope you have a great experiance MD'ing.

LOL, WeaponUSMC can’t hold being a Marine against ya.. I had a few Marines attached to my team. We were painting targets for the Air Force as EFAC (emergency forward air controller). Pretty cool all three services working together.

Thanks for the welcome and best with your Mding. I did not care much for NC either but only saw it from the base. Looking forward to the hunt. I was just a thinking the ground here in bama/GA is like a rock. Wonder how well my machine is going to work …
