Question Newbie needs advice on right MD and places to find

Howdy,
I was looking to ID some old coins that my grandpa picked during his travels in WW2, and I came upon this site. I ended up finding the coins in different websites, but now I've decided that it was so much fun learning about all the old coins, that I want to start MD'ing. So here I am. I am trying to decide between the Garrett ace 250, the BH quickdraw 2, and the radioshack discovery 3300. I need to find a detector under 160 or so bucks, so I figure once I decide what I want I'll hold out for a good deal on ebay or somewhere, and then decide if I'm able to afford a bit more. I live in Independence, MO as of now, and this town is so full of history. My parent's live within a few blocks of the truman presidential library, and the square, and I'd be darned if there weren't some instance of civil war soldiers marching across their backyard. I'm wondering what the rules are around there about MD'ing, and how I'd find the best places to hunt. The vaile mansion is nearby as well, but it is owned by the historical society. Lot's of parks though, and not much other people around on the right days, so I wonder if it's o.k. to hunt in the public parks/playgrounds? I'd really like to find older stuff artifacts/relics, but I'd also like to find enough jewelry/coins/ clad coinage to pay for my metal detector. Anyone have any thoughts/ advice for me I'd appreciate it.
-L

Default Welcome

WELCOME to the Family. GREAT to have you with us. I have used many many detectors and I purchased an ACE250 this past August. I LOVE IT. GREAT for coins and relics too. Wish you the very best in your hunting.
Just check around with your local government and they can tell you where you can hunt and where you can't....HAPPY HUNTING...PAPPY
