Default Another Newbie Aboard!!!

Hi all!

I am just getting started in this very interesting hobby and had a quick question. I am trying to decide between two detectors for some very casual hunting. My two choices are either the ACE 250 or the BH 3000.

I can get the Ace250 brand new for under $150. via the internet or the BH 3000 from Radio Shack for $111.

I will be hunting mostly around my property at first (1850's School House) and our local beach but plan on expanding my hunt as time goes on.

OPinions, Advice??

Any and all comments would be appreciated.....Great Forum by the way!

If it was me, I would go with the ace250, I don't have one [been thinking about it] but I have heard a lot of good things about it. Good Luck & HH

May I ask where you found an Ace 250 for under 150.00 ? New the lowest allowable price is 212.45. This is either a used unit or stolen or not a unit that will be sent once paid for. Thanks in advance for your information.

Thanks for the advise guys. I am leaning toward purchasing the ACE 250.

Tony, It is none of the above. I have a Friends and Family coupon (which I will post for anybody that asks) for 25% off. This is from a respectable store which I will post after all goes through. Their price is listed at $199.95 and is DEFINATELY legitamate.

Default Welcome

Welcome to a great hobby. My first detector was the 250. It is great, I would buy it again in a second. Very easy to learn and finds a lot of stuff.
Good luck and will be looking forward to hearing about your great finds.

welcome. dont have a 250, but hear real good about it. i got my girlfriend a 3300 to take down to southamerica i used it a bit she used it for a month and did real good. i meen real good but all finds were 3-4" i did ok with it. but it gets eractic bad in bad soil. ya can detune and it helps. but for id on coins if its deep 5-8" it will bounce from 00-199. sounds like , hot rocks. rusty nail to big iron. i think its on were ya live.(soil) check with some of the locals. md'n and what there using. as far as freq. an stuff. but i would say the 250.? from what i have heard. if she makes it back with it its a good back up unit. or a loner for a friend who wants to come along md. but i would really go with the garret.

Thumbs up

Well, I guess I am on my way!

I ordered the ACE250 from Sports Authority for $149.99 after coupon and took three day shipping. I am the most impatient SOB but I could not bring myself to pay the overnight rate. Anyway, there was a small problem withthe order when placed online. When I entered the coupon code ("JULY25" for anyone interested) it came up "invalid" but Garrett was not part of the exclusions so the CS rep put it through for me.

This 25% off coupon is vaild for three days and is good for only one item but they have plenty of stuff. Enter the code in all caps.

Thanks for all the advice and kind words, I will most certainly post all of my finds!!

HH!
