Default newbie looking for advice

Hi all. My name is Mike from Crestwood KY (burbs of Louisville). I have never owned a metal detector and am considering purchasing one. What do yall recomend for a newbie? I am looking to spend less than $250. I will probably only be using it once a week and using it mainly in grassy areas. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Default Prizm II

you might also consider a White's Prizm II. goes for $250.00 or Prizm III goes for $350.00. I have a coupon for $50.00 off on either one. I have a Prizm III, and it works great. E-mail me w/add. if you can use the coupon.

Mike - I have heard very good things about the Ace 250 - I think it is a very good starter machine. Welcome to this forum. You will like it here. JoAnne

Default My 2 cents

Hi Mike and welcome. I just started in the hobby in Febuary and purchased the Ace 250. It is very easy to learn and finds a boat load of junk. I am on the verge of having it paying for itself. I never used any other detector before so I have nothing to compare but I would recommend the Ace to anyone starting out. It is easy and finds stuff, what more do you need Also it pinpoints very well once you figure out how and where on the coil. This detector will get you started into the hobby without a lot of problems.
