Default White's XLT question

Can anyone tell me if there are differences between the Spectrum XLT and the E series XLT? I am looking to step up from an old 6000 di Pro and have been watching alot of listings on ebay. I see both models and would like to know the difference in the two if there is any. Thanks to all that respond. PABill

Default There is a small diff

The only thing I know of and someone else may be able to add to this is the software upgrade to the e-series, but all in all the unit is the same. You can send the machine to Whites for the upgrade I think there is a small fee might want to check it out.

Later Will

I use a spectrum XLT and I just love it. First trip outwith it I found a 1944 merc. The machine said it was a dime and would be found at 6 inches. When I dug down sure enough there it was. I do have an older model of the XLT, but I love the programs that have already been loaded from the factory. I'm not brave enough yet to try programing it myself. Good luck I feel you won't go wrong buying the XLT

PABill,
I have read many many posts ,articles etc., over the last 3 yrs or so on anything XLT related and have both an Eagle Spectrum which is the precursor to the Spectrum XLT and the newer E model.
After all the discussion and reported phones calls to Whites about the softwear it basically boils down to this i believe, the newer softwear only helps speed up programing and if anything only gain a second or 2 and does not affect detection performance at all.
To be perfectly honest with you the Eagle Spectrum operates almost exactly the same, is just as good as the newer XLT's IMHO .I paid $275 for mine in excellent condition in a private sale and on the online forum classifieds they don't last long and on E Bay some are higher than what i paid a couple yrs ago. They are a little heavier as they use 4 "c" batteries rather than the 8 "AA" and has a bigger box and most of them the backlight is non functional which does not hurt performance at all.
My advice would be not to worry about the softwear but look for the best conditioned detector you can find. HH Bill

Default For Bill(DE)

Thank you for the information. I am glad to see they are basically the same machine. There is alot more Spectrums for sale than the e-series. I would love to pick one up for the price you paid. Most of the units on ebay are going for $400 and up. I think that seems a little high considering at this time you can buy a brand new one with a pinpointer and other accessories and free shipping from Kellyco. I will just have to sit and be patient and wait for a good deal. If you know of another one that is in the $300 price range be sure to let me know. Thanks again, PABill
