Default Gonna buy Ace 250 - Should I get Garrett Master Phones too?

Hi all, title says it. I am looking at buying an Ace 250 for a good price, should I also buy the Garrett Master Sound headphones (for $25.00)? or are there better phones out there for about the same price.

Absolutely new to metal detecting, but have been thinking about it all my life.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Joe

I sell the Ace250 and I have to tell you : I've tried several different headphones on them and the Vanco do the best job. The Garrets are good but the Vanco's are better. Look at my site and see them there. If ther eis anything else you need please let me mknow.

Hi Joe - I can not tell you anything about the garrett head phones but just wanted to take a moment to say welcome to the TQ family. I recently was thinking about purchasing an ACE 250 which is a great little machine but when it came right down to it I opted for the Whites Prizm V. You need to decide what you want a machine to do and what you are going to be using it for the most. (Beach hunting - relic hunting - coin shooting) Then check with the sponsors of this forum and find out what are your best options. Tony at TC Metal Detectors is a great person to deal with as well as the other sponsors on this forum. They are very knowledgeable. Good Luck and Happy Hunting. JoAnne

JoAnne, Tony & Pappy,

Thanks for the quick replies and welcome. I will be getting my 250 from the Navy Exchange for just under $150.00 and can also buy the Garrett headphones for $25.00 with no tax and free shipping. You have recommended the Vanco and I notice they sell for around $39.00. Are they (the Vanco) enough better to be worth the extra cost, considering I am just starting out?

Joe

Default Tony tell us more

Tony, can you tell us a little more about the advantages of the Vanco head phones on the 250. Do they have volume control? I know I got Garrett ones with my ACE and they do not have volume control and are way too loud for me to use and I am half deaf I would not recommend them.

I have the ace250 and the garret $25.00 headphones and I like them , I cannot compare them to the vanco headphones, but I do know that the headphones I have work really good, and they have volume control.

Tony,

The Navy Exchange is the Navy's version of the Army's PX but actually it is the same store as it is on online exchange that all uniform services use. Because I am retired Navy I can shop there.
