Default Pin pointer help

I have a question regaqrding pin pointing. When I am hunting and I get a signal and it says say .25 at 2 inches. Then I hit the pinpointer and it immediately goes to pull tab. Am I to assume it is a pull tab or a quarter?

Also when in pin point mode and I scan the target then move off of it and move the coil around it signals in a different area. Say just right of where I figured the target was. In other words it is weak then gets louder then weak and then louder again. Which signal should I dig the first one or the second one? This is hard to explain but say I keep moving the coil in the same direction in pin point. moving to the right it gets weak then louder than weak and then louder again. How do I know which hole is the actual target? I know I am not explaining myself very clearly but hopefully someone will get what I am trying to say.

joanna; i'mnot much help, but i have a prizm III and it works about the same as your V. when your in pinpoint, it is in the all metal mode also, so it will show almost anything. if when you were scaning and showed 25c it probably is 25c. when in pinpoint, you should get a solid tone, not a beep. swing your dect. from r to l & lto r until the tone is the loudest, stop at that point where it's the loudest, then move back & forth towards you, then away from you, ( like a + ) until it's the loudest. That should be where the two (r-l and b-f ) intersect. that is where you should dig. hope this makes since.

Thanks Norris - I am familiar with the + because I had a bounty hunter before my Prizm V. It is hard for me to explain. It is like it is reading two targets next to each other but about 8-10 inches apart. Lifting it about a foot off the ground helps but still does not explain the problem. It got to the point where I was not using the pin point feature but I want to be able to. I know I am not explaining it very well but do not know how else to say it. JoAnne
