Default need advice and info

i purchased my gti1500 used and have the manual on order. when i start out, how high do i run the treshold ?is it supposed to make a base line of noise? i read that if i test it i must cover my items or the test will not work correct. also i read that when starting out in the coin mode it has factory presets what should i learn to change first. im looking forward to getting out soon with it.

Hi jimbob, set your threshold to where it is just audible enough so that you can hear it blanking out over ferrous targets. I would get used to ground balancing the unit properly and play with the sensitivity setting. Also try notching different items out also. Practice pinpointing a lot until you are comfortable with it. Don't be hesitant to experiment jimbob. I hope you get good results with the 1500. God Bless and happy hunting !
