Hello evrybody, I had been lurkin round here for about a week. Decided it was time to join in on the fun. I am going to be getting a MD for X-mas and I have it narrowed down to just a few. First let me say I am quite thrifty (isnt anyone who is willing to dig in the dirt for a nickle). So $ is a factor in my decision. But im also not fond of junk so... I have read all the good things on the "ace 250" and can get one around $200. I am also considering the "Tesoro Compadre" for around $150. Also the " Bounty Hunter Tracker IV" for around $110. I was wondering if the quality of these 3 were near the same or if there is enough of a difference between the ace and tracker IV to warrent the price difference? I am also up for any other suggestions. (wanting to stay under $200) To let you know I plan on digging up most everything till I decide what I like best. You all seem like a very nice and honest bunch and I am glad to be a part of this board. I will probably have a few more questions in the near future.

p.s. I would be willing to buy from a sponser of this sight if the price is comparable to others. And does anyone know of any sales or coupons comming up for the x-mas season?
thanks a bunch,
shazball

Default Welcome

FIRST and FOREMOST let me say WELCOME TO THE FAMILY. It's GREAT to have you with us and we are looking forward to seeing your finds and pic's. in the future.

I own a ACE250 and I have be VERY SATISFIED with it since I have had it.
Durable, light weight, Dependable, Productive and Priced Right.

This is MY OPINION ONLY and I think it would be a good idea for some of the Sponsors to kick in their two cent's worth on the matter too.
AGAIN, WELCOME and if you need anything...JUST HOLLER...PAPPY

Welcome to the TQ family. You have come to the right place for information.

I had a BH Tracker IV I liked - it it was OK. However it was not long before I really wanted to be able to go deeper and get those really old targets. Tony from TC Metal Detectors was very good about letting me trade in the Tracker IV (it was only about 6 weeks old) towards the purchase of a better machine. I was going to go for the ACE 250 but ended up with a Whites Prizm V. Get the best machine you can for the money. That way you will avoid having to trade up as I did. I have heard nothing but very good things about the Ace 250.

I might also recommend that you check with Tony at TC Metal Detectors (one of the group sponsors) I have found him to be very fair and knowledgeable. I am sure he can answer any questions you might have.

Whatever your choice, I am looking forward to seeing your finds and I wish you tons of luck at this great hobby. JoAnne

Welcome! I own an Ace 250 as well and you can bet you WILL find coins with it, as well as other things. It is my first MD'r so therefore I am unable to compare it with other machines. I have been happy with my purchase. Good luck with your purchase and we will be looking forward to all your finds!

Hi Shaz, good to meet you and we are very glad you have joined us. Well I will be the first to admit it is hard to beat the Ace 250 for features/performance versuses price. I also love the Tesoro lineup too. I should at least let you know Minelab is having their holiday sale and the Xterra 30 is priced at 349.95. I also include for free the Ext. 2 year warranty, Minelab weather cover, Minelab cap, Rock & Gem scoop, shipping and of course personal service to help you with any questions or needs you have Shaz. John's Detectors is here to keep you detecting and provide honest and dependable service. Hope to hear from you Shaz. God Bless.

My wife uses the Tesoro Silver and loves it ($239.20) It has the discrimination feature where the compadre doesn't. The ACE 250 doe's have the visual display and pin point feature. ($212.46).
Let me know if I can be of further help.

Hey Shaz,
Welcome to the gang. Hey whatever you pick, Yes make sure
it fits your buget. My wife bought my (Radio Shack) three Christmas's
ago and I'm thrilled with what I find. She spent a little over a $100 for it and I do great. I do find our arch nemesis the "pop top" from time to time.
Once you figure it out you can determine what's what. Don't think you have to spend a whole lot. My buddy spent too much. He bought a (White's) and he don't care for it at all so definitly pick what fits you.

Good luck on your choice
and happy hunting
