Default and yet another newbie question!!

I did purchase my Ace 250 as I indicared in my other thread....also at the time that I made my purchase...the dealer suggested that I also should have a coil cover, saying that it would protect the coil from damage in the field...I did purchase it on his suggestion as it made sence to me....BUT..my question is...Will the use of this plastic cover impede the overall response of the detector in general everyday use?
Once again..your comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Bill

In fact it will protect the coil from deep scratches and wearing down as quickly.
One suggestion if you don't mind, is that you remove it every so often and clean it. Dirt and sand may get in between it and the coil. This could affect it and may give false readings. Especially if you use it in the wet or dry sand.
Just to keep mine in nice shape I remove my cover every so often. It only takes a couple minutes.
Happy Hunting to you
Many thanks again for your expert advise........I guess I just need a confirmation as to the continued useage of a coil cover.....and that it wasn't just a quick " add on" sale to an new user...
I feel a whole lot better now with your input.
Thanks again.
