Default New detector in Georgia

I've been reading this site on and off for about 1 1/2 years and finally bought my son a detector for christmas. Wow they sure have come a long way from when I was his age Anyhow he has really been enjoying detecting and I have ofcourse been enjoying the time. Being close to the rivers we have been hitting them alot here recently. Nothing major yet few pennies and such but its been alot of fun. we have been checking alot of arial views and also good ole fashion drives through the country, found good places just waiting on permission. We did get to go today on some land that held a shed from 70+ years ago. Kinda erie pulling stuff up that has not seen light in that many years. I can't wait for him to pull up an old coin. Can't wait till tommorow

Congratulations on your new purchase (for your son)! I am sure you two will have a great time metal detecting with one another... the best treasure will be the time you and him spend with one another! What metal detector did you wind up buying for your son? Please keep us posted on all the great finds that are awaiting to be dug up!

We ended up getting him a Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX from a Big Box store near where we live. He's only ten and we wanted to make sure it was something he would enjoy. He really seems to enjoy it as I do also. As for the one I had as a kid I believe it was from Radio shack and had a needle that moved back and forth, however nobody I knew owned a detector so I really didn't understand it so the hobby was canned pretty quickly.
The amount of information that is on this site is tremendous and we would really like to thank all whose hours of countless research on different places within the different states to detect. We hope to add our own photos of treasures we find here in the near future.
Well hopefully today will be a good day, as I know it will be
