Default first post

this is my first post on this forum. my son is 14 and i got him interested in this hobby buy looking at this forum and some of the finds people have posted. it really made his interest boil, and he wanted me to buy a detector for him. wasn't sure what to buy so i asked what to recommed with the money i want to start with. they recommeded me a 2000 titan and my son was thrilled. on our first day out he was kind of awkward at first. we did find two coins and had alot of practice. yesterday was our fourth day out and i can't get over how he is becoming one with his machine. he is pinpointing so much better with just sounds. he is developing his own little technique with the motion. now i want one but don't know what to get, so many opinions!

thanks dave

Default Detector's

DAVE, WELCOME to the TQ FAMILY !! It's GREAT to have you and your Son with us here. Looking forward to seeing some pic's. of your Son ( and Your) Finds.
I would suggest the ACE250 but I am kind of partial due to the fact I own one.
Very easy to use instrument, light weight ( Can swing it all day), Sensitive, Good depth and discrim factors....Our Sponsors will be more than happy to help you pick a detector that will suit you...AGAIN, WELCOME...PAPPY

Dave welcome to the TQ family. Good luck in picking out your new detector. I currently shopping around for a new detector myself. Currently I own a White's XLT and I wouldnot trade it for the world. However, I'm looking now for one I can take into the water and detect in the surf.

Again Good Luck and Welcome...............Doug

Welcome, Topknocker, from another NEWBEE at TQ.

I started with a Titan 2000, and have passed it on to my son, who enjoys it. Next came the Ace 250, which I will never give up; it's an awesome little machine; don't let the low price fool you as this is a serious detector.

Looking forward to your finds and photos.

Default Hi Dave

...this is a great hobby, and you are in good place to ask about detectors. I own a White's Eagle Spectrum, (close brother to the XLT) and a Garrett Ace 250. I have owned many different types of detectors over the years, and would have to say that the best detector for a beginner to buy is the Ace 250. It's not only easy to learn, but performs well enough that you may never want to upgrade! Take a look at one of the forum sponsors and ask them soe questions. I'm sure they will point you in the right direction. Good luck and happy hunting!

Ernie
