Hi Guys and Gals, I new this forum and Metal Detecting. I'm from Somerset Pennsylvania and just purchased a brand new Whites DFX from a local Sporting Goods store in Uniontown PA. It is being shipped from Whites and I expect to pick it up next week.
I can hardly wait for the adventure to start. My Dad owns the oldest house in Somerset, (1775) this will probably be as good a place to start as anywhere. It is very spring like here this past week but the weather is very unusual this year. We normally can expect on average about 180 inches of snow each year and the temp is about 25 to 30 degrees above average. I know it probably won't last until I can at least get my detector. So I will be doing alot of reading and experimenting this winter anticipating Spring. I wish everyone a great year. Take Care, 300 Wtby Dave |

Greg, Yes I purchased it from Ross Bros. in Uniontown PA. I had been looking and considering buying one for a year now and on Thursday I just happened to be working in the Uniontown area and had a few hours to kill until my next appointment and the rest is history, I purchased the new detector. The reason why I won't have it until Tuesday is that they didn't have any DFX's in stock and they had to order it from the company. I will also say that Shawn at Ross Bros was very knowledgeable and explained the Whites in great detail to me. I know that I'm starting out with the Cadillac instead of the VW, I'm in this metal detecting for the long haul that is why I went with a better machine.
I'm chomping at the bit to get started. I've found a few coins just in my flowerbed here at the house while turning dirt for my wife to plant flowers. Our house was built in 1918. I've found a 40's silver dollar, a 1908? Barber dime and clad. I think there is more just in my backyard. Take Care, 300 Wtby Dave |
