Need help picking first MD
Hello all:
I am looking to buy my first MD. What I have found is cheap, but I figure it will get me started and I can upgrade later as I learn. The two I have found is a BOUNTY HUNTER Scout and the BOUNTY HUNTER Discovery 1100. The 1100 is more money, but it looks like it has a screen display where the Scout has just 2 dials and a plug for you earphones. To be honest, I don't even know if one is better than the other or even if these two are any good at all. I plan to use them around old house foundations and on beaches (I doubt I will go in the water, at least not at first). If anyone has any input on these two detectors, or if you can say if they are any good, it would be much appreciated. Thanks Dave

Hi Dave and a hardy welcome to you from John's Detectors. I hope you will join us in this great hobby and it is very addictive! If you haven't purchased anything yet I would suggest taking a look at the Garrett Ace 250 if you want to spend less and get many many features that will work! If you are willing to spend more I would suggest the Minelab Xterra 30 or 50.

Hi DAve - if you have not purchased a detector yet I too suggest the Ace 250. It has gotten great reviews and has a ton of features for the money. It is a great beginner detector. I do not own one but wish I did.
Anyone who owns one speaks highly of them. Make sure you check them out. JoAnne

I have not purchased one yet. Where I live, there are few stores that carry them, the ones that do, the staff knows nothing about them.
What makes the ACE 250 so good, or should I say, what would make it goos for a beginner? Thanks Dave
