Default prizmIV vs. ace250

Greetings all!!!
New to this and was wondering what everyones take on these two units were in a comparitive sense. This will be my first detector and I'm gonna use a little tax refund money for my purchase. I live in sw va and have lots of old cool places to detect. Any sugestions on which of these units
(or any others) that I might want to consider would be greatly

appreciated. I'd like to keep the budget around 425 or less!!!

thanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!

Hi, i have a prism5, great machine and for about 500.00. Ive found a lot of coins and other nice things , depth seems to be good at about 4 to 5 inches , i'm, going to upgrade to a xlt,or a dfx or maybe a minelab se . better depth. spend what you can ,but if your serious and get hooked like i did , you'll want to get a better one to go deeper .

Although the Ace250 is the best starter unit on the market , the Prizm IV is the next level up. Along with the Xterra30. Go with what oyu can afford but get the most from your money. If you need any help with your purchase please let me know.

Wow, all of these choices and soooo much great information. I'm kinda leanin toward the minelab xterra 30. Looks like a good all purpose unit.
But, i'm still looking and am willing to look further........
Let u know when I finalize my descision.
Thank you all for the guidance and I hope to be hittin' some good grounds here in southern va real soon since it does'nt seem to snow here anymore!!
Thanks

If you want a TID unit,I would recommend the XT30,if you do not care about wether it is a TID or not, then I would recommend the Minelab Musketeer Advantage(329) 1st and the Vaquero 2nd.The Minelab may be just a wee bit deeper but the Tesoro is much lighter to handle and has a lifetime warranty. The XT30 is also light to handle.

Hey Rich, Welcome to TQ.

You can't go wrong with either a Vaquero or Ace 250. The Ace is more oriented toward coins, but I've had decent success on relics, too. If you're thinking strong on relics, then I'd say Vaquero, which has manual ground balance and does go deep.

Good Luck and keep coming back; this place is "chock full" of friendly folks and superb MD information.
