Hi and welcome NJ. What kind of detector did you get? If you have questions some one here is most likely using that detector and will be glad to answer any questions you might have. The only advice I have is to get out there, learn your detector and start having fun.

NJ - go to the local library and do some research on buildings that no longer are standing. Perhaps ones that were there in the 1800s. Talk to the local people especially the older people to see where there might have been taverns or hotels or stores in the 1800s or early 1900s. Visit your local historical society. Do some searches on the computer. All places to find to hunt. Good luck and keep us posted on your finds. JoAnne

Welcome to the forum. Your own back and front yards are the best places to start. No one has probably been there before and you never know what you'll find. You can also practice your hunting skills before venturing out into the real world . Then find a local school and go for it in the wood chips. You'll be amazed at what you will find. Good Luck !!
