Default I got my first...

permission yesterday from 2 cities in my area, so I can metal detect in their parks. I didn't know where to go to look for city ordinances, so I just called up the city parks and recreation folks.

The first person I called said she had never heard that question and asked the director. The director said there are no ordinances against MDing and there are no signs posted, so I should be okay.

The second lady had the same reaction, that she had never heard that question. She came back on the phone and said that the director said that it shouldn't be a problem. She sounded all excited for me, so I said, "I bet yer gonna get one, huh!?" She sort of chuckled and said, "No, not really." They're such snobs out here in southern california, I couldn't help but bust out laughing.

I wonder if I'm the only person in this area who owns a detector!!! (I technically haven't even gotten it in the mail, but I'm raring to go).

It was a funny story, so I wanted to share.

Default well

I have my eye on one that is behind an apartment complex where I used to live. There is a stump and by the stump is a plaque (I don't think it's an official historical society plaque, though) that says it is a site of an old ranch. In fact, the largest ranch in that area at the time. I would say around the early 1800s or late 1700s. I'm so excited I can't stand it.

I'm a bit worried, though, because I don't know anything about my detector, since I don't even have it yet and it's my first.

Ace 250

Any suggestions for a first timer (besides watching the DVD) so I can get out the door and go?

Angry I tell ya what...

UPS is not my friend right now. They are saying that my MD is in Los Angeles (only an hour away) and that because of bad weather (Not sure what bad weather because it was in the 70s today) that I can't get my package.

I guess I'll have to get it Monday, but that just means I get a long weekend next weekend to really break it in! Not so bad after all, I guess.

Still not good.
