Good luck with it. I would start with the factory programs. I usually use the coin jewlery program. If I can be of any help feel free to ask. I'm no expert but I've been using the xlt for about 5 years.

Hi Rich,
Good luck with the XLT and i agree with Ken to use the factory programs and practice .I'm partial to the Relic program but coin and jewelry is excellent also. Would suggest getting the smaller 5.3 Bullseye coil for trashy areas.

Just ask some questions and folks here always do their best to help out .

Thanks guys,
Fired it up yesterday for a bit with my kids and we found a 69 nickle in the front yard using the coin program. Think im gonna stick with factory progs for now till I get used to this unit. So far I think its great and pretty easy to use. Gonna try and hit my dads house today (built in 1901) and see what pops up there.

Later,

Hi Rich, Congratulations on the XLT. I have one and I like it alot. It is a coin and silver magnet. If coin shooting is most of what you are looking for then you will love this unit. White makes a great machine that will last you for many years. Good luck and happy hunting! Bill

I'll be following this thread closely too. Just getting mine today/tomorrow from Whites. Major learning curve coming. I assume I'll be doing factory presets for quite sometime too, till I'm comfortable with its signals. Excited all the same!!
