Default new guy on the block

Hi everyone!
My name is tony. I am from central Indiana. I have been married for 25 years to the same lovely woman. My wife purchased a metal detector for me about 6 yrs ago. I used it around my community for a couple of months and haven't been since. I did find some coins and such with it. I was wondering if any one could point me in the direction of finding out the laws concerning this hobby. thanks,
tony

Hey Tony welcome to TQ Its always great to see another Hoosier on here. Chuck covered your question about the laws of detecting really good, always get permisson, some public areas you need to get a permit. The resevoirs up around my area, you need one ( no cost ) and you have to report what you find and you are only allowed to dig in the SAND , not the grassy areas. Some areas have their own rules, so its always a good idea to ask before you dig.
