Welcome to TQ Julie! I'm learning my way around with my Ace 250 also. I have faith that we'll both be more fit and have more treasure by the end of the summer.

Default Greetings

Welcome to TQ Julieburger. I guess I'll have to get ahold of a Garrett Ace250 to see what the controls look like. I use a Minelab Soverign and mineralized soil is not a problem with it.

Generally speaking if mineralization is a problem you can turn down the sensitivity and re-ground ballance to improve performance.

Sometimes a signal will seem to disappear in the loose soil and it turns out to be a coin that ends up on edge. By stiring the soil or using a pinpoint probe you can find the signal again.

If you are sure there is a signal but you are having trouble picking the target out, it may be small and the same color as the soil, to find the item take a handfull of the soil and wave it under (or over) your coil until you find a handfull that has the signal in it, then divide the soil between your hands to narrow down the amount of soil that has the signal until you locate the item. A pinpoint probe can expedite locating the small items and avoid this process.

Hi and welcome Julie,

Up in NO GA too and same mineralization here too. Everyones right, sensitivity is the key. Ive got a 2500 and I can only run it at 6-7 to minimize the false signals. Pin pointers are also a godsend, especially when your target is a bb lol

Keep plugging away and you'll find the right settings eventually :)
