Hi fellow metal detectors. This is my first forum ever on the internet and I am very new at metal detecting and so far, not very good at it since I haven't found anything of any value thus far. I keep trying. I have a Garrett detector and a White's Classic and am having trouble getting the White's to work properly. I've had it for about 4 years but only used it about 8 times or less. When I turn it on I get a beep but then when I go to scan over any metal items I get nothing or sometimes a faint beep. I have changed the batteries twice (8 of them) and that didn't correct the problem... Can anyone help me? Thanks and it's good to be a part of Treasure Quest.

Could be a bad connection on the whites.Have you contacted whites mabey they have someone you could talk to.

dont give up
dont give up.... lots of people try this hobby hoping to find lots of coins or gold and jewelry... it happens but it takes time and patience.... i dig lots of junk, but it makes those sweet finds much more sweet. aftre pulling out 30 pull tabs for the day the yellow of gold looks mighty fine in the bottom of a hole, the silver mich brighter. because you didnt give up and you earned it. WELCOME AND HAPPY HUNTING

Hi Elizabeth. I'm new to this also. I was recently down in Bradenton and plan to retire there. I think that is not too far from you??? I have been out swinging 3 days a week or so since I started and I'm just starting to get some older coins. Found my first 2 silver coins this weeks. It is exciting. Keep in touch...maybe we can get together in Florida. I'll be back in July. I would love to find another woman in my area to detect with. My hubby is not enamored with it yet.
