I joined TQ last September but I have not had a working detector until today. This weekend will find me in the fields with my new DFX. I would like to say "Thanks to everyone for their posts." I've been doing a lot of research that brought me to this point. Now all I need is practice, practice, practice. Good thing I have patience and enjoy learning curves. No more lurking, I am here and will share my finds when they are worthy of mentioning. I look forward to all this new hobby has to offer, including all of the fine folks that go with it. See you in the fields and good luck to us all.

Now I need to get a digital camera. LOL! I went into the back yard tonight after supper and I found an engraved brass butt plate and trigger guard, plus the trigger and trigger plate from an old muzzle loader. The engraving is in a scroll flower pattern. Being that the trigger guard is very broad and ornate along with the very unusual stylling of the butt plate, I suspect the parts are quite old. The trigger itself is made of steel as were two screws and a couple of mounting pins. There wasn't much left of the steel but the brass parts are very nice indeed. I also found my first pull tab
and assorted scrap metal and two nails. The weather looks good for the weekend and MDing is all I have planned. Good luck to us all and be well. Thanks again, mhdeals |
