Default The hunt for history

I am a sucker for history and anything that comes out of the ground has a history. I have a very larege family farm that I am blessed with free reign to hunt, as long as I fill up the holes grandpa doesn't complain, and so what I find is also family History. Yesterday I found 1 clad penny, a nail some crap ,and an old stove door. The stove door was my favorite because I had the great and rare pleasure of knowing my great grandparents so it made me think of them. I know it had to be when they were young and this makes my find very special. Of course I will have no complaints if I find coins either it is all about the hunt for history for me

Default Relics etc.

Welcome
I was not sure what I wanted to find when I first thought to get a metal detector the end of last year. At this point, I guess I like relics best, civil war especially. For dug coins it seems you really need to have something quite special for there to be any real big $ value other than silver coins. The big thrill for me is holding any item that potentially has not seen the light of day for many years and thinking about it's past, the older the better. I have not done much outside my yard as I need to find someplace legal to hunt. I dig it all, cause you never know. I do discriminate out small iron otherwise I would wear my shovel and back out in my yard, nails and staples everywhere. I have CW buttons that came up as pull tabs on my detector. Dig it all (the clad may add up too) .

Whatever you decide you like best, Happy Hunting and show us the loot!

Default Welcome

gremlin to TQ. Personally, I don't specifically look for coins. ANYTHING I find is cool and the history behind it is the cherry on top, But as the Ring Queen say's the change doe's add up and helps out. Bottom Line is it's all great to me even if it's a piece of trash that's deep cuz then I know my detector is working as it should. Looking forward to your post & finds. Good Luck & HH.

Welcome Gremlin:

I prefer to hunt in All Metal Mode, digging most any consistent signal. I get much more of a charge out of finding some rusty old relic, but I don't turn down the coin signals either.

Enjoy your detector and look for what interests you most
