Question (New here) I was wondering about Sanibel island?

Hi! I guess this isn't a very exciting first post, but I was wondring if anyone had any advice for a beginner?
I'll be going to Sanibel Island, fl. next summer and I don't know very much about metal detecting or where to look. Are there any good places around Sanibel to hunt for coins, etc? I've heard of pirate storys about the area.

Any advice is greatly appreciated !!!

Default Sanibel Island

Sanibel Island is a Very historical place you can read of it's history on the net by going tothe sanibel island site. my husband and I visited Sanibel on our honeymoon and collected two five gallon buckets of sea shells. The bird santuary is fabulous. we go back whenever we can but have not detected there. I hope you enjoy your trip and welcome to Treasure Quest.

Good Luck.

Default Sanibel

Hey Lurkley... We took a trip to sanibel last year... Awesome place. Supposedly the pirate Gasparilla set up a shop there at one time, or was it Bowlegs?... I forget.

Anyways when we were there I noticed alot of people hanging around the picnic tables reading and on the beach fishing at the water line. We also accidently interupted a midnight rendevous, so there's sure to be something around the resorts.

They've got some great food there too.

Like another poster, I wasn't into MD'ing at the time and was caught up in doing the Sanibel Stoop for shells... If you can't find any gold, silver or coins, you'll surely find some of the most beautiful shells in the world there. Have fun GL.
