Hi everyone.
I just checked in. Having moved to Virginia recently, I have become even more interested in metal detecting now that I have more time to do such things. I recently departed the Navy, actually about 8 months ago, after 15 1/2 years.
I have no experience in Metal detecting, but am anxious to get started and learn along the way. Any help is much appreciated. I have asked my wife to purchase a Garret Ace 250 as my first detector for Father's Day..I had been offered a fishing trip..very hard for me to turn down that, but I thought this was a better way to get the family involved in history and what the earth has to offer on the subject. welcome, couldn't have picked a better place, i just started metal detecting, my kids like to come along with me when i go out MDing, after about 1/2 hour- hour they've had enough, they go nutz when i find a coin, so do i. People around here are very helpful.

Hi, another x -navy man here
 , quartermaster on a destroyer in vietnam, 69 to 71 , welcome aboard , great hobby ,but be warned it will be an addiction before long, i started out last year to get out and walk a bit and next thing i knew i was hooked , great people here , good luck hunting.
