Hello all, just wanted to say hi to everyone. I am from Cumming Ga, just moved here from western NY and thought that this would be a great hobby to learn the land around me.
Been reading the forums for about 2 weeks and doing a lot of research on the whole MD'ing thing and I have caught the bug. Not sure of anyway to get rid of it but to buy a metal detector and get out there. Which beings me to my other point, I got my heart set on a White's M6, if anyones got a really good reason for a different detector let me know.

Hello and welcome to the TQ family. Good luck on your choice of Detectors. I can't tell you what detector to buy, but for me I got a White's XLT. It serves me well. I would ask one or two of the TQ sponsers for recomendations on a detector. They can tell you prices and options they will assist you in your finally choice. Again welcome
Doug

Default Hello Coin Digger...

...and WELCOME to TQ. We are glad you joined us, and we look forward to reading your posts as well as seeing photos of your finds.

The only comment I would like to make is that Georgia, like Virginia, is famous for its red clay (high iron content) and it's awesome CW Relic finds! If you want to go deep enough in that soil, make sure you buy a machine that you can manually ground balance (making those precise adjustments), and which "is known to go deep" in the red clay. That would be the Tesoro Tejon! The icing on the cake is a Life Time Warranty from Tesoro.

The M6 is a great coin/jewelry machine in average soil conditions, with a 2 year warranty. Something for you to think about. I personally own both, as well as the Whites MXT. If I'm gonna be hunting in georgia or Virginia...in that red clay, out comes the Tejon every time.

Chuck

Welcome to TQ Coin Digger....I'm new to the forum as well here in Warner Robins Ga. Got 6 months left and I retire US Air Force, which leaves me more time to play....maybe one day we could meet up and cover some ground. If you have any questions...these guys here has all the answers for ya. I had a small budget to start off with and got an ACE 250...Very happy with it......good luck!!

Welcome. Trust Chuck about the machine. I started with an Ace 250 and it could not handle this Georgia clay. I have a minelab xterra x70 now and we are in sync. Also know it is illegal to hunt in parks here.

Thumbs up Hi!

Welcome to TQ, Chuck has lots of experience hunting different locations and will lead you in the right direction. Also Juliburger lives in GA and knows what works (for her) as well.
