Welcome Steve...
Tons of information just at your finger tips.....I'm bare bones new like yourself Steve but with a smaller budget, I started with an ACE-250. Now that I got it and added a sniper coil to it that I got from Treasure Hut (Chuck), I wouldn't trade it in for a more expensive one if I had the money to do so. It has great features for the price and Its easy to use which is what you want when you first start out....turn on and go.... The other reason I purchased the ACE was because of all the different MD forums I read, alot of the old-timers were leaving their $900.00 units in the garage and swinging the ACE just because they said it was fun to use....so I thought to myself......if they think the ACE was fun after many years of MDing......that was the unit for me.....just my thought Happy Hunting ![]() |

Well If you would like the opinion of a new person in this hobby who is about as technologicaly advanced as a caveman then I would recommend the Ace 250. Very easy to use and I was finding coins/etc. first time out. Also I just learned from the school of hard knocks get the plastic cover to protect the coil. I also learned buy from a T.Q sponsor (someone who actually detects) their always around to help. Kevin (caveman)....indian40
