Default questions for the experienced

questions
how long does it take for beach coins to become blackened?
how long does it take for fresh water coins to become pink and blackened?
is there a better method for cleaning the coins than tumbling them?
also - how many of you have had deli owners (etc) look at your cleaned coins twice - and even turn them over to make sure they are real currency?

From the land of the Bluenose....a paste of cream of tarter and vinegar will help the copper coins.

I only have a month's experience but I am interested in the same thing. I have ordered an electrolosis cleaner and it will be here this week. I am not sure how it will do but it is affordable and I am going to be putting up a new thread showing some very clear before and after pics and I am going to be asking if someone with a tumbler will do the same so we can compare. Maybe we can get some other methods as well keeping in mind that all the experts agree that the best condition for a valuable coin is the way you found it.
