Default Hello Dirt diggers, delvers, deviners and other assorted mud grubbers

Just a quick hello to introduce myself.

43 yr old male based in Leicestershire, UK. Retired from the Army after 24 years of service.

I've been a detectorist on and off since 1981; more off than on due to service issues to be honest.

8am to 5pm Monday to Friday i'm a systems manager. After 5pm and on weekends I pester local land owners (and unfortunately more and more these days, the County council) to allow me to dig holes on thier property.

I currently own an Explorer SE which is doing it's best to fry my brain. It's temperamental, stroppy, annoying, frustrating, but also, just like my wife, lovable in it's own quirky way.

I settled on the SE after a friend recovered a handful of coins from a field i'd given up as played out using one.

Looking forward to picking your brains at need

Hello and welcome Slate! I'm pretty new to this myself - but completely consumed and addicted! Everyone here is incredibly friendly and helpful - I'm sure you'll find it a great place to learn and share your own experiences.

By the way, my ancestors are from Leicestershire - one of my other hobbies is genealogy and they've been traced all the way back to the late 1500's as coming from that area.
