Hello, new here but not to the hobby
Had a detector now for a couple years, i don't use it much as theres not many places that are too old around here (found a 1943 nickel once). I collect glass and ceramic insulators. Most of my collection (currently about 250 insulators on display and 100 or so in crates) came from my grandpa, he worked on the railroads and would stop to pick up any insulators he saw wile waiting for another train to pass. I normally hunt on abandon railroads as well as live ones (you didn't here that from me) but we find most of our insulators along bike paths that were once rail roads. Any one else have any insulators? i am glad to help with any questions you have, gives me something to do other than sit around all day. (insulator picture)

Hello and welcome, When I lived in Maryland many many many years ago, my father took me out along an old rail line and we brought home two large boxes of those. My father then placed a small brass chain around them and made a three tier candle holder. He sold them at a flea market. I think there is still one of those in the attic of his garage.

we were just in Maryland, the insulators we found were common but different from what we get in ohio.
