Thank you to everyone for your warm welcomes....and for the birthday wishes. Having a little trouble with this one as it's the big 4-0, but maybe I'll take my MD out and try my luck at finding myself a nice birthday present.

To those of you who asked - my kids bought me a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202. Don't know how good a model it is, but it's fine for a newbie like me.

As for the ping I was getting, it's high pitched and I did "fiddle" with all the knobs to lower frequency, discard metals, etc. But as I said, with it being on an old railroad bed it could have been anything. My husband is still dreaming of me finding a gold conductor's watch. Me, I'm just hoping I don't come across any bodies....there's been some searching locally along the railroad bed for a rumoured mass burial grave just off the bed.

It's also rumoured that a local man buried a load of money in my fields before he was hauled off to jail. I do know that when he escaped from prison about 7 years ago the state police staked out my house and grounds until he was caught. Hmmmmm...legends...the stuff dreams are made of, eh?

I bought a pioneer 202 for my grandson and I take it once in a while instead of my White's Prizm V. I think it is an ok detector and it will find coins pretty good.
