After perusing this forum for several hours yesterday I have a firm opinion. This is the best and most friendly forum I have ever seen. Thanks for the welcome messages.
 Scoop question: after using other scoops and sieve devices I decided to design and build my own. I worked out the hole diagonal based on a dime diameter. I printed out a 1:1 pattern with a plan to build it out of rod and wire. But when I showed it to my wife she went into the back of one of the kitchen cabinets and pulled out something with the perfect size holes made from wire and rod, all stainless steel. I have no idea what it came with.  At least I had fun applying the Pythagorean theorum to find the length of the sides of the squares.Found weight: finders keepers. If you find the 30 pounds I lost you are more than welcome to keep it!!  I am still working on interfacing with threads. I have noticed that pictures are appreciated so I will be adding my profile picture and fix up an avatar. Also, I will start adding pictures of my finds. For some reason pictures are a problem right now. My first attempts got a restricted response. This time an attached picture was allowed. I think I have attached a picture of the blue sapphire ring.
