Well I feel welcomed hehe...Umm I am kinda leaning towards the Bounty Hunter. Its on Sale for half off right now (99.99) I will primarily be looking for coins and rings and I herd this will do just fine for that job...Maybe some relics (old coins) dunno if I would need a more specialized detector to find older coins opposed to newer ones.

I don't know which Bounty Hunter you are looking at, but it is mighty important to get a MD that has the "S" tube for the handle.
Bounty Hunter makes a very useful VLF for $45 (Wal-mart) that is great for coins and jewelry - but falls apart with heavy usage because it does not have the "S" tube.
I now have the ACE 250 ($250) and absolutely love it. It also has a pinpointing function that works well. I have a White's Bullseye pinpointer probe that is helpful in grass/dirt.
A talk with the sponsers about your individual resources and needs will be very helpful.

to the TQ family. Afraid I can't give you much advice on a detector as I'm still a newbie myself. Don't let the "Veteran Digger" status fool you - it only means I talk a lot.

I have a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202, myself, and I absolutely love it. I realize it's not quite up to par with what the "big boys" (and gals) use, but for someone just starting out it's easy to learn and operate and is quite adept at finding coins, pull tabs, railroad spikes, and old smelly sneakers (in case you're in the market).

I'm a newbie to "treasure hunting" and the forums here. I dont know much about detectors but this week in Ca. Big five has the bounty hunter "trasure hunter" on sale for $119.00. I've been told it's a fine detector, It has 3 mode detection. discrimination and auto-notch modes. I don,t know alot about these "modes" yet but after three hunts I've learned I find a lot less junk using them. If you have Big 5's in Denver its a great bargain..
P.S. I was born in Denver many moons ago.
