Welcome to TQ
With respect to the help you asked for (identifying gold sounds etc.)

I practiced with kitty litter. You can buy it in boxes. Find a place in your yard that is absolutely free of noise. Put items various depths and orientations in the kitty litter and sweep over it.

When you get better put in various items together at various distances. Don't just put in valuable stuff - put in junk too.

Hope this helps you. The way to get better is practice, practice, practice.
Happy hunting, and again, welcome.
