Thank you all for the warm welcome. It looks like I have joined a fine group of people here. I hope to get to know you all better in the future.
EBCIII, you asked if I am in NC or SC. I live in Fayetteville, NC. My girlfriend and I were just in Chapel Hill yesterday, and I saw signs for Burlington while on I-40. Do you ever get down this way?
I detected a little on Saturday and dug up a civil war button and a 1926 wheatback. I also dug a small brass item that had an eagle on it. I first thought it was civil war related. But after researching, I found that it was a medallion from an old hand-saw dating back to the late 1800's to early 1900's. Isn't the internet a great tool for us metal detecting junkies?
I plan to pull out the digital camera and figure out how to post some pics for you soon.

Hey Carolina Digger you are in a good spot for some digs. I do get down that way once in a while. Lots of history. Good luck with the hunting.

Maybe we can do a hunt one day, Beale.

Hello Digger ... I hail from north eastern NC ... from your past finds it sounds like you are fine tuning instead of learning ... congrats on the past finds and good luck with the new machine ... Jimmy
