I'll let you know about the upcoming hunts in Lancaster, they're also listed in the magazines.

I didn't make it to the GPAA show, wanted to but had to get back to work. I did win a "kit" last year with a 2 pans, a bottle and a bag of sand with gold in it (you can actually see some of it from a GPAA club that was at our hunt, haven't panned it yet but will one of these days (there's a whole lot of things that I'm going to do one of these days).

What area of Chester County are you in?

Alan, I also used to work at the steel mill as a contractor in Caln. I was looking for a rock outcrop on the 30 bypass as I rockhound a bit too. My sister is in Downingtown.

Also wanted to mention that a friend got the panning kit this year at the show and had a bit of fun with it. Had trouble getting the gold with the snuffer though. We ended up getting three of the vials of gold for being the first 100 in line at the GPAA show. Got another and a souvenier pan for $5.00 as a show special and a nice bottle of gold for $4. We came home with a good bit of treasure.

My Grandparents had a farm on Rt 30 just about halfway between Rt 41 and Rt10 next to the Green Lantern restaurant and spent many summer vacations exploring all over that farm.Their house used to be a dancehall from the early 1900's and half of the dancefloor remained the back porch when they tore the hall down. Too bad the farm was sold before i started detecting and now the house is rented and the Amish now farm the fields. Had lots of family reunions there also.
I remember my father stopping to buy monster sized soft pretzels from a guy on Rt10 who sold them out of his pickup in paper bags on the way to visit my grandparents. Beautiful country for sure. Oh the memories!! HH Bill

Ok, you threw me off when you said in Caln, the old Lukens actually is in Coatesville borough, Valley and South Coatesville townships. I worked at Lukens for almost 30 years, left shortly after Bethlehem went bankrupt.

Sounds like you did well at the gold show!

Hey Bill, I was just talking to someone the other night about the Green Lantern and Bojaks, funny you should mention it. I'm right on the other side of Coatesville from your grandparents old farm, surprisingly, there's still alot of open space there along Rt. 30 but I'm sure not as much as you remember, and I'm sure it won't stay open for long though.

HEY! I remember that conversation!! Of course, I've no idea what you and Joe were talking about...but I remember the conversation (wink wink)

Anyway...hello and welcome to CanUDigIt...from another Chester County native. Spring City..ummm, not sure where that is...I'm in East Fallowfield.

And Bill...I grew up in Chadds Ford, well, just outside - nearer Unionville. But I used to drive "Roller Coaster Hill" like a maniac back when I was young and dumb and had my Firebird...know where that is?

Welcome to TQ, nice machine,I have an Xterra they are good, the best advice is to Listen,Listen and Listen again to what the machine is saying. To start dig everything but take note of the sound it makes and gradully on most sounds you will know what to expect as you dig the signal. Good Luck.
